Profile Jaeger-LeCoultre

A pioneer of invention Antonie LeCoultre, founded his first work shop in 1833., which he used to produce numerous technical advances in watch making industry, including the level winding mechanism, the first reliable keyless winding and time-setting system.In 1866, the House of LeCoultre changed the status from workshop to Manufacture, establishing thus the first one in Vallee da Joux. In 1903 Jacques-David LeCoultre, the founders’ grandson was gauntlet thrown down by businessman Edmond Jaeger that started the production of ultra thin watches. The friendship and appreciation was immense and resulted in partnership and creation of a brand Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937.

Invented in 1928., by Swiss engineer Jean-Leon Reutter the Atmos was the first watch with perpetual motion, that operates on the room temperature, and for the past 50 years has been the official gift of Swiss government .
The Reverso watch was born in 1931., as a challenge to making the movement that can stand up to hard knocks characteristic in polo matches, adorned play for British army officers in India. Withstanding its original characteristic of universality, aesthetic clarity, fine craftsmanship and sophistication it became the classic of Art Deco.

In the 1970’s when the watch making world was completely turned to production of quartz watches Jaeger-LeCoultre played a pioneering role and focused on the production of new technologies. Its complicated movements led to a string of groundbreaking milestone inventions. Each watch has its own caliber, design and produced within the Manufacture.
